You open your eyes, look at the clock, and realize it is time to roll out of bed. What is the first thought through your mind? Are you excited to face another day, or are you wishing you could roll over and go back to sleep. If the day ahead seems daunting, it’s time for a shift.
Shift your thoughts, shift your life.
As single moms, the daily actions that we face can seem overwhelming sometimes. It would be easy to focus on the difficulties of getting it all done. That’s when the sense of overload starts to wash over us. We take a deep sigh and trudge through the day. We snap at our children, the very people we treasure the most. We get stressed out, overwhelmed, irritable…the list goes on.
Good news: it doesn’t have to be that way! The answer that will set you free and bring you into a better way of life? Shifting your thoughts. The answers don’t rest in our circumstances: more money, more time, more help…the things we find ourselves wishing for when we’re stuck.
The answer lies in our thoughts. When we view our lives through a better mindset, great possibilities are endless! It sounds so easy, yet can be so difficult. Here are three things you can do that WILL change your life for the better:
- Wake up with a positive thought every day. When you open your eyes, make this declaration: Something good IS going to happen to me today!
- Give thanks for 5 blessings in your life. Don’t let your day begin without concentrating on your blessings. It puts an entire different focus on your thoughts, and naturally begins to attract MORE blessings.
- Before you go to bed, write down 5 successes from the day. Big, little…it doesn’t matter. A success can be as simple as “Junior went through the day with no candy.” ”I sent a thank you card to my babysitter.” “I treated my ex husband with kindness.” When you allow yourself to celebrate your successes every day, you will begin to accomplish things that bring you joy. Keep a journal, so you can always reflect on successes and see how far you’ve come!
Don’t just take my word for it. Take the challenge! I challenge you to begin doing these 3 simple things every day for the next month. Will you do it? Leave a comment with your commitment! Let’s stand together and help encourage each other to shift our thoughts into a better place.
And remember, something good is happening to you today!
